Scouting For Food
October 1 - November 5, 2010
Like our Cub Scout motto says, "HELP OTHER PEOPLE." Pack 727 and the Boy Scouts of America plan to do just that! Canned food donations will be collected to support the charitable efforts of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County where the goal this year is "One Million Meals." Click here to watch a video about Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
Beginning in October Scouts can go door to door collecting canned food items from their neighbors. Scouts can also collect canned food items from family members and friends. Filling plastic grocery bags, these items will collected and distributed to the needy. Scouts can ask that items be left on the door step in a plastic grocery bag at a certain time with the understanding that the scout will return to pick up the items or the scout can wait for the items to be gathered after asking for the donation.
All donations collected are to be dropped off at Melinda Heights Elementary School on Friday, November 5 between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. If dropping off the collected food items at this time is not possible, please coordinate the drop off with another parent or the collected items can be dropped off at the Albertsons store located at Olympiad and Alicia between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 6.
Please remember: NO PERISHABLE FOODS, FROZEN FOODS, OR GLASS CONTAINERS. All boys who participate will receive a 2010 Scouting For Food patch to add to their collection!
